Ariel Malachi Sirocco is an Integrative Hermeticist following the Corpus Hermetica and related writings; as such, he is a hardcore Panentheist. He frequently teaches ancient Hermetic history and traditions and has taught at several esoteric conventions along the Northeast and at countless private gatherings. Ariel has an academic background in biology (Q.C.) and 15 years with the American Museum of Natural History. To this day, he weaves his scientific knowledge with his ritual.
Ariel has been a practicing occultist since 1983. He was initiated as a High Priest of the Minoan Temple, Inc. of New York in 1998 and The Temple of the Spiral Path-NYC in 2004. During this time, he realized that the scientific and the esoteric were two sides of a coin named “Ritual” and, thus, began his true pursuit and calling: Hermetics.
He moved to Connecticut for several years where he started Coven Quiddity (2006). It grew into the Akashic Temple (2009) and ran monthly meetings and a few major events during the year. In 2007, he joined the Masonic fraternity and his attentiveness quickly raised him through the ranks reaching Master Mason in 2008. In 2012, he became a 32-Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and Washington Council Princes of Jerusalem, Master of Ceremonies (2012-2013) of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Bridgeport, Ct. In 2017, Ariel became the Worshipful Master of Union Lodge No.5 in Stamford, Ct.
During this time, his passion with Hermetics led him to reach out across the United States and abroad to Amsterdam, NE in search of Elders. In Amsterdam, he reached out to and visited the world-renounced University of Hermetics (@ U.o.A.). However, he found his teacher on the West Coast – in California and in 2015, Ariel was granted an encampment charter from the Ordo Templi Astartes (OTA) for New York City area.
It is Ariel’s belief that this “New Age of Esotericism” deserves academic exploration without sacrosanct or circular defenses. If this does not happen, the entire family of “pagan and esoteric traditions” will fall into disrepair, ill repute, and eventually dismissed as merely fanciful.

This year the conference theme is Change:
Change as Opportunity: Rising to the Challenge.
It’s hardly surprising that we would choose change as a theme, when the point of the conference is that we want to change the world, to help it accept that people are able perceive and to effect- to change- the world through our inner energies. Since the Enlightenment, Westerners have separated Science and “What’s real” over on one side, and Religion and Magick over on the other side, putting it on the ‘optional’ menu, which has severely handicapped us all by not allowing them to include any evidence they find that suggests that everything that is real must be based in the physical world.
Those who encounter the “supernatural”, “metaphysical”, “occult”, or “paranormal” are shunted off to the “kook” seating. When solid science leads to evidence that other worlds and abilities exist and may explain how the world works, the scientists involved must carefully couch their findings in ambiguities in order to be allowed to publish the findings in mainstream literature. IMO, to require your results to reflect your pre-selected position is not science! We must come to a place where whatever the results we find are accepted, even if they indicate the presence of psychics, ghosts, other worlds and non-corporal beings.
The resistance probably comes from the claims of infallibility- once one has suggested that their position is the only correct option, then any change proves that their earlier position was wrong, proving them fallible. This is a hard position from which to back down.
Although the Scientific method requires that after testing an hypothesis, we accept the results of the test, in practice, results are accepted if they support a hypothesis that goes along with the old paradigms, and if they don’t, then the tests were clearly flawed- not the “only the physical is real” paradigm.
It is often said that “Insanity is when you keep doing the same thing and expect results to change.” But results often change. There are so many variables that we shouldn’t be surprised when it does. Happily Quantum Physics and Chaos Theory are beginning to break down the old paradigm and we are gradually learning that it’s fine to accept that we didn’t get everything precisely right the first time. My mother used to say that the “average lifespan of a scientific fact was five years”, and certainly we are learning new things that challenge the old ways daily.
Change is difficult to deal with, especially when we have to make major decisions, medical and legal ones based on what we believe is real. Every time we realize we’ve made a mistake, we have to accept that we may have hurt someone, or done something wrong, because of what we thought was true, but wasn’t. It is better to deal with those mistakes and move on, rather than to continue to make them and compound the harm. (How many of us had to learn as children to hide psychic talents because we would be teased or reprimanded?)
So this year we are looking at change, and how to direct it to where we want to go.
This is one of the panels that didn’t get enough people signing up to happen- I’ll be posting a few more of them to “hold space” until we start posting new panel ideas for next year. There is no reason to think we might not run one of these- or re-run great panels that are still discussion worthy. But please, send in your suggestions if you have ideas for a panel topic you’d enjoy hearing discussed.
Global Warming (Weirding) Panel
Climate Change (“you’re soaking in it”). Our take on the debate over climate change, politics vs scientific community, including our role as custodians of this earth and our spiritual paths. Climate change refers to the warming of our climate’s global temperatures, with effects include the melting of the ice caps, worsening of storms, changes in the jet-stream and currents in the ocean, the salinity level of the oceans, affecting life in the ocean. How does the spiritual community see these changes? Do you accept the Gaia Hypothesis? How do they affect the magical workings we do? Does it likewise affect our balance as well? What do we already do, or can we do to do our part to inform, educate, and enact actions to help resolve this imbalance?
