I regret to announce that Ivo Dominguez Jr. will not be joining Otherworldly this week for health reasons (send healing his way), but has asked to be rescheduled when he has recovered.

Instead, Tchipakkan will speak about Vampires.
This won’t get into literary analysis, so there will be very little on the last century, (as much as we love them, no Bela or Bella, Barnabas or Buffy, but rather an historical and cultural exploration, with some speculation about what may underlie the tales of the dead returning to suck the life out of the living. Modern understanding of ‘energy vampires’ will be included.

I do hope to cover Vampirs, Upirs, Verdilaks, Strix, Empusas, Draugr, Alps, Baobhan Sith, Rokurukubi, Leyak, Lamia, Vrykolakas
and Jiāngshī (the Chinese Hopping Vampire), Dhampires (vampire offspring/hunters), as well as odder variations such as pumpkin/ watermelon vampires. I’ll talk about legends of the Vampire of Croglin Grange, and Buckinghamshire Vampire, how vampires are created, and how they are to be dealt with. Please feel free to jump in with your favorite vampire legends (folklorish, but not fictional).
