Lady AMber Dawn has been a very active Magickal force in the Occult world since 1993. She is a tarot card reader, a Usui and Sacred Flame Master-Teacher for 12 years in total, an Isian, a Witch, a practitioner of the Voudoun religion and is presently learning more about the religion of Umbanda through The Temple of Guaracy of Washington D.C.
Too often we think of magick as a throw-back to primitive times and pre-technological cultures. But magick and technology do mix, often very well. Many entities find it easier to communicate between worlds through energy manipulation (perhaps it’s a frequency thing). Other times they mix poorly- we all know someone who cannot wear a watch without it breaking within a few days, or whose presence seems to create static on electronic devices.
Yet, what are many sorts of divination but random number generators, and what better than a computer to do that? If you would test it yourself, try going to websites like facade and judge for yourself. Our panel will discuss the intersection of technology and magick. There are now apps and programs aimed at metaphysical practice, electronic grimoires, on line covens and other working groups. We live in the world with computers, we use them to make a living, pay our bills, play,… why not incorporate them in our magickal lives as well?
Come to the Atrium and listen to several of our speakers and guests talking about various issues. (let us know if you’d like to be on a panel, you don’t have to be a speaker, just have something to say about the topic. Let us know , or come to the facebook group and join the conversation!)
The Reverend Robert Nolan has been a frequent speaker at Changing Times-Changing Worlds since the beginning of the conference. Tchipakkan heard him speaking about both the how and why of studying the old heathen/pagan ways and bringing them into practice in the modern world at A Sacred Place in Canaan, NH and invited him to share his Old Laws series (Guest Right, The Importance of Your Word, and A Modern Code of Honour). Rob understands the difference between simply accepting a practice because it’s old, and using history to see which ways of doing things have stood the test of time, as well as examining which work best under different circumstances. He’s also spoken about the rights and duties of guest and host, and other aspects of honorable living.
Recently, having observed how difficult it is for men to negotiate the changing moods and cultural shifts of modern life, he has been working to develop men’s activities and rites of passage to make the modern world a more comfortable, effective place to live. He knows history, magick and religion through both study and active practice. He’s worked with many groups from A.S.P. to the Sagefire Fellowship for the last couple decades. This year he’ll be speaking on Midwifing Deity: Origin of God.
